HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!

Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers out there!!
I'm not really much of a gift giving person.
instead, I enjoy making things for ppl.
this year, I decided to cook dinner for the family.
a nice and simple dinner for 5.
enjoy.

in my backyard, i have a lemon and an orange tree.
decided it'd be nice to make some fresh squeezed lemonade ... with strawberries ...yumm

this spaghetti was pretty good.
very clean in flavor.
very simple to make...and it allowed for my brothers to eat vegetables (a double plus)

I really liked this dish.
for me, whenever I find a new recipe where I can use chicken breast....
I like it.

what it looks like when cut

to empty the fridge....
stuffed zucchini
everyone enjoyed this the most I think...
zucchini, onion, garlic, corn, green onion, basil, parmesan cheese, salt/pepper

now...for...dessert:

puff pastry tower
with the help of the roll out pastry dough,
made a simple dessert.
whipped cream, vanilla pudding, strawberries.

now...to be honest...I have no idea why I made 2 desserts.
I think I was a bit greedy haha
and plus...who doesnt like dessert?
Creme Brulee
what a perfect way to end the dinner.

Happy Mothers Day!! ^^

Kimchi Fried Rice

I really enjoy making fried rice.
its a combo of all your favorite flavors mixed together to create a party in your mouth.
it also gives you a chance to clean out your refrigerator ^^
this was my first time mixing these ingredients together...
it tasted pretty good i must admit.

sliced mushrooms, chopped kimchi, minced garlic, sesame leaves, corn, rice, egg

fry mushrooms, add garlic -make sure garlic doesnt burn.
add kimchi and cook til tender
add corn
move everything to the outer rim area of your pan (leave the middle empty)
crack egg in  and scramble (i like to add pepper...)
add rice (i used rice that had beans in it...cuz thats what i had in the rice cooker)
once everything is mixed and ready, turn off the stove.
add sesame seeds and sesame leaves
enjoy~!!!

salmon  with salt, pepper, lemon juice, olive oil
dressing - lemon juice, olive oil, salt, pepper, lemon zest

super simple.
next time...i should add some onions...maybe even some garlic.

Hollywood Bowl

this past Saturday, a couple friends and I went to the Hollywood Bowl
Korean Music Festival
I had a blast!!
we decided that next year, we'd buy the tickets to sit up front ^^
looking through the pictures I took,
I realized that they're all food pictures....zero pictures of humans -___-
oh well...let me share with you our adventure!

before heading to our destination, we made a couple stops ensure that we wouldn't go hungry
or original plan was to go to Julienne, pick up food from the market and go...
but when we got there, the food wasnt really want we wanted, so we just picked up some desserts.
off to Portos we went for some sandwiches and well..more desserts!

as soon as we got settled into our seats, we put together our plastic wine glasses

enjoyed our drinks, ate cheese and crackers and our food and enjoyed the show.

so under these cake pops were:
slice of white cake with cream and strawberry from Porto's

we also got mango mousse from Porto's ....
but I guess i forgot to take a picture of it
it was very delicious.

 creme brule - from Julienne

coconut macaroons - Julienne
these were huge and pretty good.
if you're a fan of coconut and don't mind coconut overload,
you would love these.

lemon meringue in between 2 almond cookies-Julienne
these were my favorite i think
the lemon meringue was very tart and light
and the almond cookies = perfect compliment
yumm....

cookie with chocolate mousse and chocolate cover - Juliennes
perfect bite for chocolate lovers...

Glendale Veggie- Porto's
roasted egg plant, peppers, and zucchini, with havarti cheese, hummus spread, lettuce, tomatoes, on wheat

Pan con Lechon (Roasted Pork Sandwich)- Porto's
slow roasted pork, mojo garlic sauce, and grilled onions, on a grilled Cuban bread

Cubano (Cuban Sandwich)- Porto's
slow roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, mustard, and pickles, on Cuban bread
this one was a bit salty...they messed up on our order -___-
we asked for no mustard, no cheese
we got no mustard, no pickle -_____-

we also had their famous potato balls...
but we ate them all before i managed to take a picture :(

can't wait for my next food adventure....
until then...here's a picture of a cute owl piggy bank I saw at Target
*this one is for you Pauline*
~~*hoot hoot*~~

Cake Pop Test Run

After being asked to make edible wedding favors,
I kept thinking of cake pops and decided that I would give it a try.

This past weekend was the perfect time to test these out because well..
Saturday was the Korean Music Festival so that meant I had guinea pigs for my first set. :)

close up of the cake pops before wrapping

wrapped, bowed, and ready to go
it was a success!!
very cute but VERY BIG!!

placed inside a box...ready for our adventure ^^
will show whats inside that bag of desserts in my next entry!!
